If you are looking for a unique, thoughtful and useful gift idea for your students to “make and take,” my 2014 Recipe Calendar Keepsake is a great project to have your students create and bring home to family members.
This new product is available in my TpT store for $5.75 http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/2014-Recipe-Calendar-Keepsake-A-Year-of-Delicious-Speech-Language-And-Learning-1012117
This keepsake makes a great holiday gift, New Year’s project or end of year activity.
Calendar pages are in black and white so that students can color/customize the images and borders with crayons and markers.
12 months and 12 recipe pages are included (pages 4-27).
Each page contains a unique “speechsnacks” recipe taken from blog posts that have appeared throughout the year on my blog site. Several of these recipes have made
an appearance in various TpT products as well. The recipes are kid and family friendly and contain suggestions for ways to incorporate language and learning into the cooking process!
For this project: students should glue each page to a piece of colored construction paper, color the black and white line drawings and borders and assemble the calendar pages. Laminating each page afterwards is recommended for better durability. Hole punch each page and assemble with binder rings or colored ribbon.
In addition , cut out the sentence starters and hole punch them to the bottom of the last page of the calendar. Encourage students to read through these sentence cues each month with their family. Additional blank strips have been added to create your own sentence starters (page 28/29).
12 bonus “temporal question cards” are included to use in your classroom/therapy lessons or give students to take home with their calendar. Cards contain questions related to the days and months. (page 29)
For students working on specific speech sounds, they can locate and practice all the words within the recipe cards that contain their sound. They can add their words to the recipe card templates included in this packet (pg 31).
Hope you get a chance to take a look at this special item. Your students will love creating something unique to give their family members this holiday season!
