There’s a new linky party going on over at Speech Room News and this one comes complete with tinsel, bows and gift wrap. That’s because this time around we are celebrating holiday activities! I’ve decided to share a little bit of Christmas Past, Present and Future with you, so check out some of the holiday activities that I have used in my therapy sessions and keep them safely tucked away so you can unwrap them next December in your speech rooms!
Christmas PAST……
I used this activity to address language goals with my students last year. If you are lucky enough to work in a school that allows food in the classroom, then this holiday food activity will be a blast! I discovered that this activity was just as appealing and appropriate to use with my middle/high school age students as it was with my preschoolers—and if that’s not a Christmas miracle, then I don’t know what is! I adjusted the level of difficulty and task expectations according to age/grade/ability level. You can find the complete post and FREEBIE downloads to accompany it HERE!! http://speechsnacks.com/2012/12/gingerbread-man-cookies-teach-language-skills/
Christmas PRESENT…
Get Organized for the Holidays!{Tasks for Practicing Executive Functioning Skills}
I created a product for practicing good executive functioning and organization and made it “hands on” with a simple and healthy food activity (if permitted in your classroom of course!) I included a fantastic FREE activity that you can download when you click on the PREVIEW !!
I used the tasks presented in this activity to help my students get in gear for the holidays. We worked on sequencing steps and organizational tips to help them prepare for the following events/activities:
*Decorating a Christmas Tree, *Baking Sugar cookies, *Purchasing a Gift, *Wrapping a Present, *Planning a Holiday Party
I think even many of us adults will find the organizational reminders helpful in this packet!!!
Christmas FUTURE:
I’m always collecting new ideas to blog about in the future that incorporate simple and healthy snacks (for those of you who are allowed to use them in therapy), as well as ideas for new therapy items to add to my TpT store that often carry a food theme and are appropriate for mainly the upper grades and older students (who often get left out of all the fun!) I’m not sure exactly what my “Christmas future” will look like just yet, but in the meantime, you can check out my 2014 Calendar Keepsake so your students can make a great project to take home and share with their families when they return from their holiday break. It will be a fun way to look ahead to the future months. You can grab this project in my TpT store.

I’ve seen the “grinch kabobs” on pinterest but didn’t even THINK to use them in therapy! I may have to use for my “future”!!!
